Most deadbolts must be manually locked with a key, and are more secure, as they have a 1” throw on the deadlocking bolt. A deadbolt may be either a single cylinder or double cylinder. A single cylinder deadbolt will accept a key on the outside of the lock, and is operated by a thumbturn on the inside. A double cylinder deadbolt will accept a key on the inside, and outside of the lock.

Halsco Grade 2 Deadbolts have a solid brass bolt with reinforced hardened steel roller, and 1⅞” hardened steel insert. They include a solid steel door frame strike plate, reinforced with 3” screws to protect against kick in attacks, and are UL/ULC listed for 3 hour doors. They are available in single and double cylinder, as well as IC Core.

LSDA Grade 2 Deadbolts have a massive 1” throw adjustable backset bolt with hardened steel rod to resist sawing, and a security strike with 3” long screws. They also have a rotating collar with inserts that resist wrenching, and are UL/ULC listed for 3 hour doors. They are available in single and double cylinder, as well as IC Core.

Sargent Grade 1 Deadbolts have a ⅞” x ⅝ x 1” solid steel bolt with hardened steel pin insert and nickel silver plating. The cylinder housing is non-ferrous, one-piece and reinforced.

Sargent Grade 2 Deadbolts have a ⅝” x 13/16” x 1” solid brass bolt throw with hardened steel pin. The cylinder housing is reinforced and plated steel.

Schlage Grade 1 Deadbolts have a 1” throw high-strength steel alloy deadbolt with hardened steel roller resists sawing and kick-in attacks. Wood frame reinforcer with 3” screws under strike to protect wood jam against kick-in attacks. Free-spinning solid cylinder collar resists wrenching and prying, hardened steel balls also protect mounting bolts from drill attack. They are available in single and double cylinder.

Schlage Grade 2 Deadbolts have a trim ring with an anti-pry shield, and all exposed trim is wrought brass or bronze, reinforced with steel security insert. The metal dust box reinforcer has three 3” screws to protect against kick-in attacks. They are available in single and double cylinder, as well as fire rated single and double cylinder. Also available is a door bolt occupancy indicator used on washrooms.
